Level 3 Award in Education and Training:
Q: What kind of assessments and course study will I have to do?
A: As part of the requirements of the course you would need to video record a 15-20 mins microteach and send it to us for assessment. No prior or current teaching experience is required.
Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training:
Q: What is the difference between the Level 3 AET and the Level 4 CET?
A: The only difference between both the courses are that for the Level 3 AET you do not need to be employed as a teacher/trainer as you do not need access to teaching hours.
For the Level 4 CET, you would need to have access to 30 hours of teaching during the course, therefore you will need to be employed or at least volunteer in some educational institutions.
Prior teaching experience is not required for admission to the CET, you only need to be working during the course so you can complete the practical requirements.
Q: How long does the course go on for? How long does it take to complete?
A: The course is for 12 months. However, since our courses are online and self-paced most learners are able to complete it within 4 months approximately. There are several theory assignments and you need to fulfill the 30 teaching hour requirements. Out of these we require you to video record and send us 3 one-hour sessions for assessment.
Q: What do I get by doing this course and how is it different from the Level 5 DET?
A: The Level 4 CET is an intermediate course that allows you to teach to Level 4 courses in your subject specialism.
With the CET you can achieve ATLS (Assistant Teacher Status) with the Society for Education and Training. In addition, this course allows you teach\train up to Level 4 courses in your specialist area, whereas the Level 5 allows you to train up to Level 5 courses.
Also, the requirements, costs and time commitment are quite different so really it is a matter of personal choice which is better suited to your circumstances.
Level 5 Diploma in Education and Training:
Q: What does the Level 5 DET qualify me in and can I gain QTLS\QTS after doing this course?
The Level 5 is a professional level course which allows you to train up to Level 5 courses and is a requirement for most schools\colleges. In order to gain QTS\QTLS you would need to complete the Level 5 DET and then claim the status with Society of Education and Training.
Q: How long does it take to complete the course?
A: From the date of registration, the course is valid for 24 months but as the course is completely online and self-paced it can be completed well within a year.
Q: What do I need to do for the course?
A: As part of the requirements you are required to have access to 100 hours of teaching and be able to video record and send to us 8 one-hour sessions for practical assessment.
Please note, the DET is a Level 5 qualification, equivalent to the second year of a UK degree. As such, assignments need to be presented in a style of writing that reflects the level of the course. Harvard Referencing is also a course requirement, further guidance will be available in the course handbooks.
Level 3 Assessors Course:
Q: What does the Level 3 Assessors Course allow me to do?
A: The Level 3 Assessors course allows a candidate to qualify as an assessor in the workplace (on the job) / classroom (or simulated environment) \ both. It depends on which area it is exactly that you are looking to assess in.
Q: What are the requirements of the course and how would I be assessed?
A: For the Level 3 Assessors course, the candidate will need to have access to two learners in the workplace (Unit 2) and\or workplace (Unit 3). You can use the same learners for both Unit 2 and 3. The assessment would need to be video recorded and sent to us for assessment.
Q: Do the learners need to be NVQ learners or can I assess any kinds of learners?
A: The learners do not have to be NVQ learners provided you can assess them in a classroom or work environments (as per your chosen units).
You will need to show assessment criteria you use to justify your assessment decisions, how you keep records and quality assurance procedures in your organisation.
Level 4 Internal Quality Assurance Course:
Q: What does this course allow me to do?
A: After completing the course you will be qualified to manage and verify the work of assessors and be a qualified Internal Quality Assurer or Internal Verifier for an educational institute in your specialist area.
Q: What are the requirements of the course?
A: As part of the requirements for the L4 Award in IQA you would need to have 2 assessors whose work you can manage and verify. We will need to observe you giving feedback to your assessors. This can be done by a qualified, authorised colleague of yours or it can be video recorded and submitted to us for assessment.
